The Music

Martyn Harry has composed an incredible, rich and varied operatic score for ‘My Mother Told Me’

Much of the music is played live throughout the production encompassing piano, flute, clarinet, violin, harp and musical saw. In addition, the vocal range includes –  baritone, soprano, tenor, counter tenor (male soprano) in amazing combinations.

Emily’s Lament

This excerpt incorporates the voice of Eva Karell who plays the part of Emily Ives.

There are no voices on the tracks below but the vocal parts (sung live in the show) are illustrated by electronic sounds/instruments. ‘The Dream Sequence’ incorporates all 5 ‘voices’ (see if you can identify the different themes), ‘Going Home to Right a Wrong’ has 3 sung parts and ‘Bobby in the Desert’ is a solo aria.
